Hiding in the still brush, he'd kept still all morning. An unfamiliar scent had warned him of danger, and now he knew he must not move or suffer the consequences of detection. The chatter of morning birds and the sun's gentle warmth enveloped him in a canopy of safety. His scraggly fingering antlers and shaggy hair helped keep him hidden. As the day wore on, the foreign smell withered, and the Brush Buck emerged victorious.
