Imago Artist
Stephen Herrero
For myself, creating art is a solitary thing. At its best, it is a time for me to step out of the world and its demands, and out of “the self” with all of its preoccupations. To be wholly absorbed in my subject, whether “flesh” or “furred” enables me to imagine their “story”. My mind creates imagined environments and situations where
that animal, or that person, is interacting. I’ve always felt that capturing a mood or emotion, by look or gesture is so important and this “imagining” I do brings my subjects to life for me. Hopefully, I am able to convey some of this in my work.
